5 mistakes to avoid in the bedroom

5 mistakes to avoid in a bedroom | Decoclico

1) Painting walls in bright colors

Painting the walls is an excellent idea, but not too brightly. What's bright? Yellow (lemon yellow, straw yellow, sunshine yellow, you name it, but we can opt for lighter shades like champagne (yes, Madame, champagne yellow does exist), or brighter shades like mustard), orange (tangerine and blood orange are forbidden, but softer shades such as peach and terracotta are welcome), red (tomato, raspberry, vermilion, cardinal, don't even think about it, just like fuchsia or hot pink, but we can find a compromise for brick, ruby, purple).

In short, opt for soft or deep shades, but not flashy colors, which are too conducive to excitement and much less conducive to sleep and calm in the bedroom.

2) Forget curtains

Even if you have shutters, dressing your windows with curtains should be a requirement of the Syndicat-de-la-Décoration-en-chef! Without necessarily opting for a thick or shimmering model that will overpower the room, curtains give a framework to the room; just as a woman would put on a necklace or bracelet to complete her outfit, a curtain is that little something extra that changes everything and can even be very useful, cf. blackout models. They're available in all materials (velvet, linen), all sizes, all types of fastenings (knots, eyelets) and all colors, so really, you've got no excuse!

3) Neglect light fittings

One hanging light for the whole room? Ouch, a faux pas. A single point of light means that your lighting is probably too bright to illuminate the whole room, but we're not at a photo shoot, so turn the lights down! The trick is to increase the number of light points, and in particular to use bedside lamps for balanced, better-distributed and much softer lighting, conducive to relaxation (again and again) and to an atmosphere that we often want to be more subdued in this room.

4) Skip the bedside table

On the bedside table, you can put your book, your sleep mask, the earrings you forgot to remove, a small lamp of course, essential oils, in short all those little things you want to have close at hand (but not to shoot into with your feet, you're not 15 anymore to leave your things lying around on the floor). It's much prettier, and much better organized. What's more, the bedside table can take many different forms, whether it's a piece of classic, recycled or designer furniture, a stack of magazines, a stool, a trunk, a basket, logs of wood, whatever you like, but two elements on either side of the bed that add a pretty geometry and a lot of style.

5) Put a mirror in front of the bed

Fasten your seatbelts, we're going to talk feng shui. It's because of feng shui that mirrors are not welcome in the bedroom, and even less so in front of the bed, for several reasons: 1) mirrors are said to "activate energy", which is incompatible with the bedroom in which you're supposed to be resting 2) seeing yourself in bed is unconsciously like seeing yourself dead (not a very cheerful way to end an evening) 3) the mirror reflects many images, so it's an amplifier of dreams and nightmares 4) the mirror also reflects the sleeping couple, and if the couple is asleep, it's because they're not close, and therefore possibly unfaithful A whole program We say that, we say nothing!
