Every month, decoclico invites a "freelancer for a day" to write an article on a theme of his/her choice!
This month, for the first time, Charlotte, interior decorator and founder of Happy Pog, has joined us to talk about chalet-style decorating - a very seasonal theme that might just inspire you!
It's finally here, and the cold has arrived in our beautiful country. The peaks are covered in snow, and some of you may be getting ready to put on your moonboots and head for our beautiful mountains. I don't know about you, but personally, I love chalet decor and can spend hours on Pinterest looking for beautiful images of wooden interiors, sheepskins, fireplaces and anything else that might make me dream of a stay in the mountains!
But today, I've got good news: you don't necessarily have to live in the mountains to give your home a chalet-style, mountain chic feel!
If I had to answer just one thing, it would be wood! Whether on floors, walls, furniture or interior design objects, wood is the material par excellence that makes you think of a chalet.
Another material that makes me think of the mountains is of course fur (fake!), but also sheepskin and cowhide. In short, you need warm materials to bring a cosy feel to your interior. This warmth can also be achieved with an accumulation of cushions cushions rugs or with curtains .
Now for the colors, and because it's my decorating obsession of the moment, dark green, to recall the forests around the slopes. If you don't like this shade, don't hesitate to use warm colors in your interior, as they go perfectly with wood and, it's a proven fact, warm colors make the room feel warmer (vs. cold colors!)
Do you want to give your Paris apartment or large house a mountain feel? But you don't want to change your entire decor? As an interior decorator, I often tell my customers that their decor can evolve with the seasons, their travels and seasonal events (Christmas, Easter, back-to-school) thanks to small objects. Small and easy to store, these objects set the scene for your interior and bring it to life, so that your décor doesn't look the same month after month (and without having to move everything every time).
