Every month, decoclico invites a "freelancer for a day" to write an article on the theme of his/her choice!
This month, Virginie Zerbib, aka @unnouveauregard on Instagram, who specializes in interior decorating, but is also very talented in DIY (especially for children via @macaisseajouets ) who took part in the game and launched into a topic on the renovation of a 2-room apartment in La Rochelle.
We've given her the keys to the magazine, and let you discover her before-and-after!
When I visited this apartment in a former convent in the center of La Rochelle, I instantly fell under its spell. The terracotta floor tiles, the old beams, the rounded windows, the unobstructed view over the rooftops, but there was a lot of work to be done to transform this old-fashioned 2-room apartment into a modern, bright, trendy and functional 2-room.
With a budget of 15,000, I had to make choices: I decided to keep the layout of the rooms and preserve the existing volumes.
For 4 months, my husband and I spent our weekends breaking, drilling, sanding and painting - and here's the result!
A skylight effect was created between the bedroom and bathroom to bring a second light into this room, which lacked light.
All the colors (the wall paints are natural, ecological and healthy seaweed-based) were chosen in harmony with the space, and I used a lot of natural materials like wood, rattan, loam and linen to avoid altering the old terracotta floor tiles.
At decoclico, I fell in love with a lot of pretty things, especially a metal wall shelf that I installed in the kitchen area.
In the hallway, which was sad and dark before the renovation, I installed 4 light-reflecting rattan sun mirrors mixed with a gray underframe.
This apartment for rent will enable holidaymakers to discover the pretty town of La Rochelle while staying in a place steeped in history and beautifully decorated.
