Today we meet Madam Stoltz. A Danish brand created by a couple, Peter Bundgaard and Pernille Stoltz, whom we interviewed.
A long time ago, I wanted to open a boutique in Copenhagen with furniture and objects imported from India, a country I love to travel to. My customers liked these products, but so did other stores that wanted to carry my selection... So I decided to create my own brand: Madam Stoltz was born in 1997.
Yes! In fact, when I was in India, I was often politely called "Madam Stoltz", and I liked the way it sounded, so I kept it!
I'd say ethnic chic! My collections (furniture, decorative objects, lighting, household linen, tableware) combine the ethnic roots of my suppliers - I'm very inspired by Indian craft traditions - with Danish authenticity. The contrasts are enormous, but it's this explosive cocktail that makes the brand's identity and success.
madam Stoltz's winter will be ultra cocooning, it's cold and night falls very quickly here!
No, I live with my family on the island of Bornholm, but I have loyal suppliers whom I see several times a year. I also go there to take care of the Nai Disha association, which gives many underprivileged Indian children access to education, in which I've been involved since 2010. I also donate the sales of some of our products to them.
