Every month, decoclico invites a "freelancer for a day" to write an article on the theme of his/her choice!
This month, it's Cécile from Misc Webzine, who specializes in interior design, inspiring decorating news and lots of DIY. She's up for the challenge, and has decided to write about the upstairs of her country house.
We've given her the keys to the Magazine, and let you discover her before-and-after!
I'm lucky enough to be the proud owner of a small, simple but charming country house. My husband and I put all our energy, heart and savings into renovating our Dreamhouse year after year.
Right now, we're working on the first floor of our house. A former attic that was poorly used by the previous owners, it's nevertheless a beautiful 80 m2 plateau under the slopes. We're planning to create an upstairs bedroom, bathroom and large study. All with as little partitioning as possible.
To visually enlarge the space even more, we're going to treat the entire floor like one big white box. Everything will be painted in the same warm white, even the floor. The beautiful light oak of the framework will be left exposed, and two walls will be "textured" with limewash paint to bring relief and contrast in a very slow design spirit.
When it comes to decorating, the accumulation of beautiful natural materials such as wood, natural fibers and a few vintage pieces with a patina of age limits the risk of a faux pas. In fact, it's one of the few decorating styles that can cope with a total look! The harmony of light shades unifies the different rooms like a common thread, and the cocoon effect is assured. This modest, natural palette echoes our desire to return to nature, slow design and more responsible, sustainable consumption. Here's my selection, taken from Décoclico's "Style Naturel".

And on either side of the bed, a natural jute suspension to diffuse soft light.

Another idea for a detour: as a desk, this beautiful rectangular dining table in dorme wood and metal legs
I end with a little luxury: placing a natural rattan hanging armchair under a roof window for the pleasure of watching the clouds go by in the sky.

And when night falls, light a few black metal candleholders to create a subdued atmosphere and gaze at the stars.
