Every month, decoclico invites a "freelancer for a day" to write an article on the theme of his/her choice!
This month, it's Marion Gavallet, aka @marelledecodesign on Instagram, interior architect, scenographer, decorator and art director, who has lent herself to the game, and gives you her tips for setting up an office at home. We've given her the keys to the Magazine, so we'll let you discover her tips!
In these difficult times, we've all had to rethink the way we work. Our home has become our office, and unless we're self-employed, we rarely have a dedicated space. I've decided to share with you some tips for creating a beautiful and functional workspace, whether you live in an apartment or a house.
The simple desk: one board plus two brackets and you're done! Just fix it to the wall in any room, whether you have an apartment or a house, and it's perfect for a small laptop. It's also ideal for use with folding brackets to save even more space in a studio apartment. If you don't have a board at home, why not use a shelf from your bookshelf? System D!
This tip is also ideal for creating a small office space for your children, who don't need anything too big. If you can, don't forget to place your desk near a window - it's always nicer to work in natural light!
Do you have two dressers in your bedroom? Perfect, now's the time to bring them together using a board or an unhinged door, for example (system D again). In the bedroom, you'll be able to enjoy peace and quiet, and by reorganizing your belongings, you can even free up a drawer for your documents.
Remember to tidy up at the end of each day, so you don't feel like you're sleeping in the office.
Now's the time to empty the wine crates (be careful, alcohol is dangerous for your health), you'll need them to create your desk. And yes, stacking them is easy. It also works with vintage apple crates.
Fix the crates together for stability if you can. This trick is great for creating little shelves on either side.
I'm sure you've already thought of it: two trestles and a board can quickly be used as a desk, and it always works. But the trick here is not to stick your desk in a corner of your room, but to place it in the center to gain more light, more perspective and simply more space.
So why not put it in the middle of the living room, behind the sofa? All you need to do is make a few adjustments, move the existing furniture around a little and define this office space with a carpet on the floor, for example.
For this version, however, you can't leave things lying around in the evening, or you'll soon be annoyed by the visual pollution. Don't hesitate to use baskets to put under the desk in the evening.
Good lighting is important, as is good seating and storage baskets, so that nothing is left lying around in the evenings and at weekends.
Finally, if all this seems like too much upheaval, or if none of the tricks of the trade suit your interior, like me, you're left with the solution of your dining room table!
